Korosten MDF manufacture

About the Plant

The daily and annual Plant production capacity is 900 m³ and 300,000 m³ of board-type materials respectively.

Location of a new plant – town of Korosten, Zhitomir region

The Plant includes MDF production line with the equipment located both inside separate buildings and outside as well as auxiliary buildings, engineering networks, depots, transport lines, security and anti-fire systems.

A well-known provider of equipment for wood-working industry German company Siempelkamp supplies the machines for the Plant, as well as carries out the designing and engineering.

The equipment allows to produce sanded MDF boards with the thickness from 3 up to 40 mm which meet the requirements of EN622-5 European standard and have formaldehyde content in accordance with toxicity grade E1 (the strictest  requirements).

About the Project

Name of the Project: The erection and operation of the Plant for the production of  medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and high-density fiberboard (HDF)

Enterprise : Korosten MDF Plant

Project  Characteristics:

Investments: Euro 120 m

Plant Area: 40 hectares

Raw Materials: Coniferous roundwood from moderate climate regions with small portion of waste wood (sawdust, chips, lumps of wood, etc.)

Finished Products:
Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down softwood into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure to the density of 700…870 kg/m³. MDF possesses high water-repellent and ecological compatibility features meeting EN 622-5 European standard requirements. It could be used as a basic material for lamination, matting, veneering and painting.

High-density fiberboard (HDF) is a product made with the same raw materials and technology as MDF but under the higher pressure of the press. As a result the finished product becomes tougher and harder. It could be used as substrate material for laminated flooring.

Environmental Protection: Ecologically clean production

Personnel: 300 employees

Project Schedule

Project Launch: July 2008

Completion of Erection: The 3 d quarter of 2010

The Plant has an advantageous geographical location as Korosten is a big rail junction of the South-West rail road net of Ukraine.
